Rachel is a highly experienced and sought-after bagpipe tutor and traditional musician based in Edinburgh.

The bagpipe professional at the City of Edinburgh Music School, and tutor to the Boroughmuir High School Pipe Band and associated primaries, Rachel specialises in bagpipe lessons for children and groups. She was also formerly a bagpipe teacher and band instructor to schools and community bands across Edinburgh, Fife and New York, USA, giving her vast experience of working with a range of ages and abilities. Rachel is a qualified teacher registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland. 

A regular on the Edinburgh traditional music scene, Rachel is also a prize-winning solo player with vast experience of playing for weddings, parties and other special events. Rachel was the first woman to hold the post piper to the Chancellor of the University of St Andrews, playing for graduations and numerous formal university events. She is also a former member of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland and has 15 years of competitive pipe band experience, including playing in Grade 1, the top grade of pipe band competition. Rachel has played for high profile events and well-known celebrities both at home and around the world, becoming known for her excellent standard of playing, approachability and professionalism. Rachel is a multi-instrumentalist, also playing the beautiful Scottish smallpipes and low whistles, which can provide a quieter, mellow sound for indoor events.
